I am a young artist living and working in the Denver area.
I began creating art with watercolor in early elementary school. Since then my practice has evolved to include collage, installation, ceramics, and fiber sculpture. The art I make reflects the conflicts of growing up in a hyper-saturated media environment. Mental health struggles, fragmented contexts, and dry irony have all been frequent subjects in my work.
In the past several Summers, I have had the opportunity to work as a counselor at the Eurekus STEAM camps based in Colorado. In the camps we worked with elementary school students to created projects that combined astronomy, engineering, and art. My favorite part of the Summer is getting to see kids’ unique creative sense and getting to see students grow as they get comfortable with the tools and techniques.
My passion in life is youth programming in the arts. I participated in two teen internships at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver before being promoted to an administrative internship with the programs. Through this experience I saw firsthand how many skilled students are looking for ways to engage with art and how crucial mentorship can be to that process.
In addition to loving visual art I also love sweaters, music, and the 2009 film The Fantastic Mr. Fox.
